Kate MacArthur Executive Director / Economic Development
Originally from the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania, Kate MacArthur assumed the role of Executive Director of the Zachary Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Director for the City of Zachary in 2012. As Executive Director, Kate is responsible for oversight of all Chamber activities, as well as developing and managing a comprehensive economic development program for Zachary, LA with a specific focus on marketing, new business attraction, and business retention and expansion. A seasoned executive and economic developer, Kate has more than 12 years of experience recruiting companies and assisting existing industry through expansion projects. Prior to joining the Zachary Chamber, MacArthur served as director of marketing and existing industry for the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation in South Carolina. During her time at the MBREDC, she helped create over 300 new jobs and won the 2012 Best Target Marketing award from Southern Economic Development Council. Previously, she served as director of business intelligence for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, and as a business analyst for the Area Development Partnership in Hattiesburg, Mississippi specializing primarily in the areas of economic development, community development and market analysis.
Kate received a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies with a specialty in International Affairs from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA and a Master's of Science in Economic Development from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She also holds an Economic Development Finance Professional designation from the National Development Council.
